I had an idea in bed last night and thought I would bounce it around here to see what people think of it.

The idea was to start a home fragrancing club. As a part of the club, you would pay me £8-10 a month and each month would have either 1 or 2 fragrances 'of the month'. For your money you would receive a pack of melts, a candle, car freshener, aroma pouch, aroma jelly etc. etc. in that one/two fragrances. This would be paid via standing order straight to me every month and of course I would ensure people get more than their money would usually buy them.

I also thought I could ask people to tell me if they have any fragrances they really hate and I could make sure they get something else for the months when I happen to have something on their list. I would also generate a code for subscribers to have 15% off for a week before the club package is posted and anything they buy will be sent with it free of charge.

So.... do you think this is a good idea???

it would, it is done for other stuff, and someone suggested i do a pack for the 4 seasons as skin needs changes slightly which i thought  was a good idea, i haven't gotten round to it yet with the best intentions but  it would make sense and there are  a lot of people with little time for the small things in life so such a thing would suit them.

Sounds like a great idea Kev. Could be a lot of admin for you, but worth a go. Sounds cheap to me, for what your offering. Isn't it funny how the best ideas come in the night. It's remembering them the next morn that's the challenge!

An indicator would be that you have a substantial number of returning customers already as these are the most likely to form the core of the club.

Then it could also attract new customers.

Brilliant idea .. had thought of something similar myself.

I personally would prefer to pay up front (maybe offer a discount for that?) and then get goodies in the post every month... however, one word of caution, be very careful about sending out at the right date, nothing more annoying that paying up front and having to wait past the agreed date for things to come in the post (happens with magazine subscriptions all the time and it drives me nuts).  Other than that, a great idea!!!

Honey's idea is a good add on, that way you wouldn't have to be bothered checking who had and hadn't paid their standing order each month.

I think its a good idea several american ones do it, its a good way to trial new fragrances too.
I THINK THE IDEA OF A A DISCOUNT IN WEEK BEFORE POSTED OUT IS A GOOD IDEA BUT ID BE CAREFUL ON OFFERING FREE POSTAGE ON IT JUST IN CASE ITS A HEAVY ITEM AND YR POSTAGE COSTS STRIPOFF YOUR PROFIT
