Hello all

Just came across this board and it looks FAB!

Always wanted to make hand made products such as soaps, bath salts etc.  I had a go at making some soap, but I don't think it came out that well.

Can anyone recommend a good book which covers all the basics and tells you about the legal side of things?  I've looked at a course which is £155 and it's home study.

any thoughts?

Hello Liza (do you insist on the Rose as well)

There's lots of information around on this forum and on the Main site (you need to log in there separately) so take a good look and ask questions here before you decide on the course - sorry there isn't a FAQ for the Forum (nobody's had time to compile one!!).

Hi Liza-Rose
I started making soap in January & my recommendation is to read, read & read some more.  It makes it easier once you actually start.  Thats just me though, I like to be organised & prepared & even then I've made soap unscented because I forgot to put out the eo's  Undecided
But most of all, enjoy yourself, I love it  Wink   Pot

Thanks for the warm welcome, my name is Liza, but if I managed to make and produce hand made products it would be Liza-Rose (the rose being my middle name)

Hi de hi Liza   Hi!

A big welcome to you.  Don't worry about little oopsies with your products, they are the best lessons you could ever have.  Jojo has written a few very funny poems about the odd little hiccups with her 'croaps' (guess how that name came about  Grin).  The forum and the main site is very much member-led so do have a good look around and if you have any suggestions, just give us a yell  Grin

Can't wait to hear about your new creations (and do read 'A Funny Soap Tale' on the main site - it throws a whole new light on soaping) and keep posting, there are more boards that will open up to you as your post numbers go up  Wink

Welcome again  Hi!
