The best Sandalwood comes from India where it is protected by the State.
The Sandalwood from Australia is an inferior oil and the one from the West Indies is totally unrelated and has no therapeutic properties and yes there is a difference in the smell.
I adore Sandalwood but it has become very expensive. I use it in many products as it is good for coughs and sore throats and lovely for many skin conditions. It is also a manly oil (Men do not mind the smell).
Please put it on you 10 year plan Helen.
sorry its an expression that we use in our household when any thing needs repairing or decorating needs to be done OH always says its on his 10 year plan.  Roll Eyes
