Hi Bea This is our first full year with the bees we spent last year building up the hives and left the honey in overwinter to supplement their diet you have to feed them syrup through the winter to keep them going. This year we are hoping to get 100 lb + of honey off so no doubt I will be able to sneek a bit into some soap,I am also hoping that I will be able to use the wax in balms etc and if there is any left I will use some in the candles.
It is a really fascinating hobby and you can keep bees anywhere In fact those kept in the cities do best of all. We have been on beekeeping courses and we go to the local beekepers meetings everymonth and for anyone interested in keeping bees they should be the first port of call as they are always keen to help new beekeepers.

Hi, Bea and welcome :buttrf:

LOVE your animals - DH and I are owned by four Maine Coons - one of them likes to sleep in the shower tray and the two youngest enjoy paddling in the washing up bowl iin the utility (we keep it full of clean water for this purpose  Grin).

DH and I went on an Introduction to Beekeeping Course in Swindon a year ago - absolutely fascinating! Can't do anything about it at the moment, but when we move to Devon in a few years, we will definitely get started!

How many ppl are animal mad like me ?

Count me in, at the moment I have 2 cats, 2 rabbits and 2 guinea pigs all in small flat.   If I had a larger place I would be including chickens, donkeys, dogs, horses and maybe a small sanctuary.... Grin
