Anise & Vanilla Soap

Soap Queen has a new video showing how to make massage candles, I don't really 'get' these, has anyone had a go? They look quite easy to make but I can't imagine anyone wanting to buy them

They look nice, but I don't get them either - to be honest, round here people scratch their heads as what to do with a sugar scrub, leave alone a massage candle !

I don't get it either. I heard about them about 2 yrs ago, might have been on here, and thought they sounded a bit dangerous tbh but that could just be me not knowing enough about them  Roll Eyes

i  have come to love the idea of them and it is so bizarre, just yesterday i was thinking i need to continue playing with it. I ended up making a lot  and stopped at some point as i  experimented more.

I know I'm a little late into this but I have a dear friend that makes these.  She and I do several shows a year together and when she can demo them, they fly "off the shelf"!  I gave my 9 nieces each one for holiday gifts and they loved them.

It's like using warmed lotion and feels oh-so-good on your skin.

I think it's the ambience appeal Eire, rather than the practical application.

That's what I thought Elaine, until I clicked on the second link you provided. That is someone pouring directly onto skin, isn't it? If so, that would scare me. Candle amking insurance is crazy here as it is, I couldn't imagine trying to convince a provider to cover that.

As i liek a bit of ambience-ness, i tend to use every now and then when i go past a tin and i remember to try it. It doesnt get that hot that it would give a scalding burn although i wouldnt pour directly on my skin. i tried the soap queen recipe and i'm afraid to say that it was the worst for performance out of all the recipes i have tried. It  gets a bit grainy with all the heating and cooling and heating.

So, I am told, soy wax doesn't have a very high melt temp.  I've used this candle numerous times and have not had the wax too hot at all.
