Getting back to nature

Hi
« on: September 19, 2009, 04:20:05 AM »

Thought I'd pop in and say hello as I just joined tonight after lurking a while on the recipes area.

Love this site, the recipes and now the forum and hope to learn how to make things like lip balms and soaps etc in an attempt to cut out yet more chemical junk from my life and also that of my fiancé who is desperately trying to find some kind of non toxic, chemical laden alternative to the steroid creams he's currently struggling with for his Psoriasis or at the very least something to use alongside the prescribed things to help him heal.

I also have been having a bit of a nightmare with my rather neglected hair and now it's time to do something about it as it's really screaming at me for some TLC. I moved from Cheshire to London just over three years ago and since I moved here my hair has really gone downhill so I'm going to have to sort it out with a new regimen of hair care, love and coconut oil.

We're currently in the middle of moving out of London to the soothing climes of SW Cornwall which we are both excited about so are rushing about like headless chickens but need to find time to slip in some lovely natural hair and body care product making.

I am a complete newcomer to making the likes of lip balms and soaps etc so please excuse a newbies blundering questions as I attempt to teach myself a new craft Smiley

Hello,

Fire away with the questions - we've never managed to put together a FAQ (we did try but it's easier to answer questions as they come).

Hello from me.
It's such a buzz to use products you made yourself, for yourself. That thrill only gets bigger and bigger as you learn and make more things, it is highly addictive though!
Are you ready to dream about soap  Huh? Muttley

Wow what a wonderful welcome, thankyou so much.

Oh I'm already expecting an addiction to making lovely natural products, my fiancé is interested as well which delights me beyond belief as it means he won't mind jars and packets of lotions and potions all over the house  Muttley

Hi!

Cutting chemical crap out of your life makes you feel SO much better. I shaved my head in June and haven't used a store bought product on it, never will again. I only use my own stuff now Smiley
