munchie of m&m fame...

« on: September 19, 2008, 09:08:34 PM »

Today I made my first post in the forum.  I've been lurking for some time, and wanting to post, but never quite got up the courage.  Well, today I did! and I'm glad I got round to it.  People have made me feel so welcome and have made some really kind comments about my packaging. THANKS!

My little company is munchie and millie - munchie is my little boy, he's 1 and is called Noah; and Millie is my cat! (My husband doesn't get a mention.)  Until recently I had an incredibly stressful job with very long hours and lots of time spent away from home.  I decided against going back at the end of my maternity leave, but really need a project - something of my own to challenge me and that I can get excited about - hence munchie and millie.

I've started selling soap (which to my shame I buy in), and candles, tea light holders, incense sticks etc., mostly on market stalls.  I would love to sell my own handmade soap, and have been experimenting with soap making, but so far I'm not good enough to produce something that I would buy, so haven't taken it the next step of certification yet.  Quite overwhelmed by the legislation surrounding soap production, but hey, I was looking for a challenge... Wink

Back to front, upside down, sideways, we don't care, welcome!

It is lovely to get so much info about you right at the start ( saves us having to torture it out of you ). Hey, no shame in buying in lovely handmade soapies ( lots of good ones on here, ahem ). Take your time with your own soaps, learn as much as you can about all the different properties of oils, EOs etc etc, experiment lots, get hooked for good, and above all, enjoy making and using! Assessments are not scary any longer when you are confident about making your products, and that comes with lots of practice. Everybody on here is always willing to help with any questions you have.

Hi Andrea

Thanks for that - we're such a nosey lot aren't we?  Glad we haven't scared you off though  Grin

You'll no doubt notice that we get more than a bit carried away sometimes, but it's all harmless fun.  Serious questions do get answered so don't be scared to ask - if it wasn't for this lot I'd never have had a go at soap (and now I'm addicted).  As for the legislation - it does take time to understand but just keep reading & reading, and asking questions.  You'll probably find answers to most questions on here somewhere.

Anyhow, have fun here, and we look forward to welcoming you as a fellow addict  Grin

Hi M&M (love that name  Muttley)

It is lovely to have you here.  I am sure that if you mingle with this lot for long enough, you'll take the plunge into the soap sea (well, at least dip your toes in  Wink).  Everyone here has something to offer and are geat fun (if you fancy a giggle in the non-cosmoholic board) - I am sure you will be showing orf your own soapies very soon M&M  Wink

Thanks for introducing yourself, it really is lovely to get to know a little bit about other members (because them lot are sooo nosy  Muttley)

Welcome Andrea!!   butterflies
