Always laugh when you can. It is cheap medicine

A recent visit to Devon brought back memories of my childhood when we used carbolic soaps to wash.  The soap was pinkish in colour and was aptly named as guardian.
I have been researching on how to make such soaps for family use.  I read about carbolic acid but since I could not get my hands on it, was advised to use red thyme eo (obviously in very very small quantities), but I have a lot on my plate at the moment and wondered if any of you soapmakers make carbolic soap.

Would love to hear from any carbolic soap makers.

A quick womble on Carbolic acid gives the info that it is phenol.

My favourite whisky is Ardbeg, which is high in phenols and Jones says it smells like TCP.

Looking at the label on a bottle of TCP it is a clear yellow solution of halogenated phenols 0.69% w/v and Phenol 0.175% w/v it also contains glycerol, concentrated phosphoric acid, E104(quinoline yellow), water

Ardbeg is too expensive to put in soap and I don't know what TCP would do.

Had a sniff of red thyme and there is something there which reminds me of carbolic soap.

Thanks Elaine, I will see how I can use my 10ml red thyme eo.  I will probably try it with my new found knowledge on HP when my soap moulds arrive and report back.
