Hi, just a quick post to introduce myself!

My name is Richard McAvoy and I am the Technical Director of  BC. Some of you guys might have heard of us, and some might not have but we manufacture a wide range of handmade cosmetics and toiletries at our factory in Bournemouth, Dorset.

I'm passionate about the world of cosmetics and studied cosmetic science through De Montord University and The Society of Cosmetics Scientists.

I'm always interested to talk to people who share a passion in making natural cosmetics and the issues surrounding the cosmetics industry but in particular, anything to do with ingredients, animal testing and ethical trading.

I'm looking forward to talking to lots of people on this forum!

Hi Richard
Welcome, sounds like you have an interesting job.  I've just started making soap but have been in the beauty industry for yonks (that means I couldn't possibly say how long  Cool ).  Very interested to hear about the products you manufacture & cosmetic science.

Best wishes

Hello Richard.

I found your site a while ago - you have a hel very large range!

(JoJo has problems making soap of a certain colour)

It helps if you have a whacky sense of humour as threads do tend to drift somewhat after the initial querypoint has been addressed.

Hi Richard,

A really warm welcome!!  I had a look at your site last night and agree with Elaine, you have a huge selection of very beautiful products  Shocked  Which DeMont did you study at?  I nearly went on to do Pharmaceutical & Cosmetic Sciences degree there after finishing college but instead, went on to do my teaching certs and Cert. Ed. (went in to teaching) but boy, am I kicking myself now  Undecided  Still, it has given me skills that I would otherwise not have  Grin

I will expect you will have your brains seriously picked by the members here (I've already begun to prepare my list  Cheesy).  The forum is a great place for sparking off new ideas, bouncing them around and then developing them with some interesting results.

Not only do we develop ideas, we also develop and WHOLE other language that I am sure you will be acquianted with as you visit the boards  Muttley

Anyway, its lovely to have you here and I very much look forward to chatting with you around the forum (oh and PS, do consider having a gallery on the main site  Wink)

HI Richard and welcome. I do know BC, first coming across your website a couple of years ago. I recently stumbled upon your website again whilst researching packaging, and landed on your blog. Your website and packaging has had an upgrade and I must say the labelling for the Around The World products is beautiful!
I look forward to your input and hope you enjoy it here Smiley

Hi Richard   Hi!

Welcome & I hope you enjoy it.  You're a brave man!!

BTW, some members are a tad blue-ist against those of us who may struggle slightly making soap of that colour.   Argh!

Hi Richard, I was supposed to be making a beeline for your Trade Stand at Birmingham on Sunday!! Was totally gutted as I ended up in hospital with a suspected Appendicitis eeeek. It turns out I have quite a nasty stomach bug so all is not that bad.
I was really looking forward to being there and viewing your products in the flesh, maybe with a view to doing something wholesale?!!
I am new to soapmaking and am still crystalizing my thoughts and ideas of what I want to achieve, marketing ideas etc. What I do know is I love making products and experimenting with new ideas. Your soap looks mega, and your site really attracted me.
I hope you enjoy being on here as much as I do. It has begun taking over my life!!
